What is St Patrick's Day?
Saint Patrick's Day colloquially St. Paddy's Day or Paddy's Day, is an annual feast day which celebrates Saint Patrick (circa 385–461 AD), one of the patron saints of Ireland, and is generally celebrated on March 17. The day is the national holiday of Ireland. It is widely celebrated but is not an official holiday in many other countries.
While not a national holiday, St Paddy's is celebrated at Irish pubs across Australia in typical Aussie fashion: costumes and beer - and of course the infamous breakfast in a glass (Guinness). Uni students and office workers alike put any obligations on hold to head to their local pub to celebrate during a typically warm time of year in Australia.
